Ladies 13th Annual Triples 2007
(Sponsored by the Costa del Sol News and held at Miraflores
Bowls Club)
Report by Kate Shields
 Second time lucky. The first attempt to play the Ladies Annual
Triples, sponsored by the Costa Del Sol News was unfortunately postponed due to inclement weather conditions and rescheduled for
Tuesday 20th and Wednesday 21st February and held at Miraflores Bowls Club. The standard of bowling was very high and extremely
competitive with a spirit of friendship prevailing. (left
- the winners of Section 1)
 The winners of section one being the only team in their section with
maximum points of six, were Gale Laurence, Dorrien Ives and Rena Beveridge of los Amigos Bowls Club and the winners of section two
Di Chambers, Barbara Land and Pauline Ball of Belplaya Bowls Club, again the only team in section two with maximum points. The
Belplaya team came through to win. (right - the
winners of Section 2)
 In the play off for third and fourth places the team of Lynne
Metcalfe, Mary Detheridge and Kate Morris of Benalmadena Bowls Club having gained 4 points plus 21 shots, played Bernadette
Thomas, Denise Howlett and Elizabeth Taylor of Mijas Bowls Club who had 4 points plus 14 shots.
Benalmadena team came through to wind third place, with the Mijas Team in fourth place.

 At the conclusion of the finals, Kate Shields thanked Marie Thomas
of the Costa Del Sol News for their generous sponsorship and all the competitors for their support and co-operation in making the event a
success, she also thanked Miraflores Bowls Club for providing the facilities and refreshments and Denis Wood, umpire for officiating
throughout. (right - fourth place
runners-up)
The presentation prizes to the winners and finalist was made by Marie on behalf of the Costa Del Sol News who congratulated the
prize winners on their excellent performances, Maria thanked all the competitors for taking part and especially thanked Kate for
organising the competition and looked forward to see them all next year.
