It
was a Spanish National holiday in Spain on Thursday 12th October but not for the
bowlers of Benalmadena who faced a competitive team from Burnham on Sea,
Somerset who made up a game of 7 rinks. (Left
- the two teams).
The
fund-raising spider was was won by Tony Giles, a
Benalmadena player who walked off with the bottle of vodka. Runner up,
Pauline Ball, also from Benalmadena, won a bottle of vino tinto. (Right
- the winners of the spider).
It
was the visitors last match of their Spanish tour and were hoping for a win to
round off their visit to the Costa del Sol but the hosts had other ideas
managing a conclusive win, 4 rinks to 2 with one rink an 11 all draw. the
final tally was 134 points to Benalmadena and 97 to the visitors. (Left
- the two Captains for the day)
The
visitors captain presented prizes to their clubs best winning side of the tour
and also the "L" plates for the worst losers on the day, to be worn
(proudly?) at
dinner later in the day. (Right -
Burnham on Sea's winning team).
